Busy Busy Busy

Oh my goodness...I think I've been busier since school ended than I was during the school year. I'm on the School Improvement Team and we've been having meetings (extra money :) ), I have my ESL classes, and in mid June I'm starting an economics class. The economics class consists of field trips to various businesses in NE Kansas, so it will be a super easy credit. I've barely touched my classroom and need to get that packed up next week. Ugh!

Elijah's been busy hanging out with his cousin. I think tonight is the first night in 9 that he's even slept here at home. Julie and Pat took Elijah and Aidan to Lake Shawnee to swim today. Elijah was too little for the slide, but he still had fun. Thanks Julie! We've been doing stuff with Elijah's friends as well. They have a date later this week.

I need to get my apartment cleaned ASAP too, but in true Jackson/Seusy form, it aint happening anytime soon! Oh well, that's why I'm single...I don't have to clean if I don't want to...

I hope everyone is well and I will check back in next week!

Freedom!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Celebrate good times...!!! School's out for summer...!!!! However you want to say it, it's done!!! I said it today when the dismissal came over the intercom..."Get your stuff and get outta here!" I'm not going to lie, I've never been happier to see a class go...most of them anyway. Loooonnnngggg year!

I took Elijah to school with me today. He did some assignments with us, went to the preschool class for a while, and played outside with the kids. He is pumped to start school! And since it's free, I'm even more pumped for him to start! He won't officially begin until after he turns 4 in November though.

Unfortunately, I have quite a bit left to do at work. But since it's child free work, I don't really care. I'm hoping to be finished by Friday. Fingers crossed!

No major plans for the summer. Hopefully I will get a trip to MO in. Maybe even CO... I have my one class I'm working on, and hoping to get into another this summer. Super easy college credit and with the $100 scholarship, it will only cost $150. It's comprised of field trips throughout Topeka, Emporia, and KC to various businesses. It's some kind of economics class. Who knows? Who cares? It's easy :)

Oh, and I'm going to deep clean my apartment. Wink wink. I'll get back to you on that one!

I'm teaching Elijah how to do dishes the fun way...

He's still ornery as usual! Crazy kid. We've been very busy. I'm doing Elijah's infusions all by myself now, with no nurse present. I've gotten 4 in a row on the first try. Yay! He's so good with it. He only cries when I initially stick him. He calls it his "bug juice" and we search his hands for "worms" to stick.

I signed him up for daycamp preschool for two weeks this summer. He's going to attend with his little friend Dylan! He will start full day preschool in November! And he will be at Quincy with me. He's been talking about it for months. I shouldn't have any trouble with him going ;)

My summer position that I waited years to get at Outdoor Ed is cut this summer...so, I'm opting not to work. Darn! That is good though, because I got accepted for a grad program to receive my ELL endorsement (English Language Learners). I will receive all tuition, materials, and final certification for free, through a grant. The best part is, the class is through KSU! We will do almost all the work on our own in small groups. It will be about 3 hours a week consisting of a video, video repsonse, journal, and a project for each course. It's a 2 1/2 year commitment, but considering it's 100% free, I'm more than willing to take my time.

The word from the principal is I will have a 2/3 combo class next year. I'm kind of excited about it. I think it will be very interesting. I'm a little worried about the vast difference between 2nd and 3rd graders...but if my 3rd graders next year are anything like this year, maybe there won't be much difference at all.

My class this year is CRAZY! There are some really bizarre children. But, that's okay, because there are only 20 1/2 days with kids left...4 weeks. Well, that's about all for now. We are keeping busy and enjoying this beautiful spring weather. Fingers crossed for some good storms later this week :)

I'm back!

Sorry Aunt Diann!!

Elijah and I have been very busy! All this snow is keeping my kids in for indoor recess, which is turning them into monsters. The last few weeks have been rough at school. Yesterday two different girls threw temper tantrums...one was carried out kicking and screaming. Sometimes I long for corporal punishment...

Elijah has been his usual entertaining self. Wednesday night he went all out with a temper tantrum as well. He was probably the worst I have ever seen him. Stomping, throwing things, screaming, crying... Lucky for him he is cute and made a full recovery by the next morning.

Some more Elijah-isms:
"You're my best friend."
"You're my best friend buddy."
"Augh! I have a fart stuck in my pants. Help me mommy! There's a fart in my pants!"
"My daddy said I can't wash my hands."
"My daddy said I can't say I love you."
"You beat me!" "Why would you say that!?!" "You walked faster than me in the hallway."
"I want to eat at Applebeens."

Spring break in 2 weeks!!! Can't wait!

Elijah

My little man is developing quite the mouth... Here are a few things I've encountered the past few weeks...
"What the heck!?"
"Oh shit!" (Nipped that in the bud)
Me: "You don't talk to me like that!" Elijah: "Oh, yes I will!"
"I love you princess."
"I love you too much."
"My coat is too heavy, it's making me fall down."
"You're my best friend."
"You pinched me!!! Why you pinch me? I'm going to tell my dad! I don't love you anymore!" (Just for the record, I did NOT pinch him)
"Oh my god!" (to which I reply "gosh")
"I can't say oh my gosh! I say oh my god!"
"You like my butt?"
"I go to my school and see my friends and my teacher and my lunch. I love my school."

I foresee a very long adolescence for us...

Happy New Year

Okay...so, it's been a while since I've written on here. Sorry Aunt Diann :(

We had a wonderful holiday season. Christmas and the surrounding 5 days were spent at Mom's house. A lot of together time, most of it enjoyable. It was accompanied by a blizzard that required a lot of shoveling...with a dustpan and antique coal shovel. Fabulous! We ate, drank, played games, watched movies, and lounged. Couldn't ask for better!

New Year's Eve was a party at my house. Aidan, Elijah, and I had treats, dancing, and a fake countdown at 9:00 (they didn't know the difference, Aidan is still talking about when I let him stay up 'til midnight).

This week has brought another round of miserable weather. More snow, arctic temps, wind chill warnings, and.... no school for 2 days!!!! I unfortunately wasted the entire day today laying around and watching TV, but who cares??

Alright, pictures to follow. My goal is to update this weekly from now on. We shall hope...
